If the thought of sitting in a counselling room feels daunting or you find it difficult to sit for any length of time, walk and talk therapy might be a better fit for you.
Walk and talk incorporates being outdoors in nature with the integrative approach to therapy I use in the counselling room. Working interactively means that I draw on elements of different counselling approaches to tailor your counselling experience to your specific individual needs, personality, and circumstances.
Some clients find it easier to start talking about what's troubling them while walking in a park or strolling down a country path. There are numerous benefits to walk and talk therapy including helping to release tensions, reduce anxiety, depression, and stress. Walk and talk can also be helpful for clients who are feeling they are trapped by their life circumstances. Being outdoors while talking about these issues can help renew of a sense of freedom. It can also help to stimulate new thoughts and ideas.
Sessions are 60 minutes and during this time we will walk, amble, or sit on a bench. It’s about what feels most comfortable to you.
Just like life, the weather can be unpredictable. It's important that you dress appropriately outdoor counselling sessions and have suitable footwear. We will walk at your pace, or if you prefer to just sit and enjoy the view.
